Understanding wines: Explaining style and quality ...
Is how the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) describes the WSET Level 3 Award in Wine course.

This course is the third stage towards becoming a wine trade professional, following on from the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines, then the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits.

After this step professionals may wish to go on to pursue the prestigious WSET Diploma qualification (For further details of the WSET Diploma click here.) Whatever the choice, the Essential Wine School offers tasting and masterclass sessions to keep up to date with changes and developments in the world of wine.

The WSET is the only wine & spirit education organisation approved by the UK government as a national awarding body of vocational qualifications.

For further information and a detailed prospectus of this WSET award click here. Our course is held over five full days of tuition, involving tasting at least 77 wines. The sixth day is devoted to revision and the examination.

The next course will be held over six Mondays starting 21st January 2019 with final revision and examination day on 25th February 2019 at the amazing Wine Sanctuary tasting and learning facility at Chapel Down Winery, Smallhythe near Tenterden. Free transport is available from Hastings, Rye or Tenterden.

The examination consists of a 50 question multiple-choice paper and five short written questions; in addition there is a practical tasting examination of two wines. Candidates must pass both parts to be awarded the qualification.

The cost, inclusive of study material, textbook, food and wine samples, tuition, examination and provision of glasses and other equipment during the course is 745 to include a light lunch each day (fee quoted is for 2018 courses and may be subject to revision in 2019).
